Experienced Upholsterer

We are looking to recruit an organised and experienced Upholsterer to join our growing Upholstery Team.

Starting basic salary is £26,000 per annum with the potential to increase to £31,000 per annum upon successful probation and evidence of skills and experience. OTE £35,000+.

Working to Atlas exacting standards, you will produce exceptional quality furniture within Marine and Banquette areas.

You will be working alongside your colleagues in ensuring that all Atlas products are met to the required standards and to deadline, following Company procedures and practices at all times.

The role will be physically demanding, involving lifting and carrying furniture.

You may not find this work suitable if you have certain allergies.

Job Responsibilities

  • Factory work, upholstering complete items or loose furniture
  • Planning own work in line with production schedules, ensuring seating is always produced on time, whilst maintaining high quality
  • Preparing patterns and templates as and when required
  • Cutting out fabric to exacting detail
  • Covering frames with padding and fabric using stitching, staples, tacks or glue
  • Making cushions
  • Adding trimmings like piping, fringing and buttons
  • Using sewing machines within Marine and Banquette areas, as and when required
  • Removing old upholstery and repairing frames before re-upholstering
  • Fixing webbing and springs as and when required

Skills required:

Relevant up-to-date experience in an upholstery role
Experience of: 
  • Patterning
  • Cutting
  • Sewing
  • Tacking

Hands-on Banquette seating experience desirable

The ability to take accurate measurements and work out amounts of materials

Excellent attention to detail

Patience and perseverance


Be dependable and professional

Be resourceful, inventive and self-confident

Self-motivation and the ability to work without supervision
