Bespoke Banquette Seating for a Beautiful Country Hotel in the New Forest
We were approached by Moorhill House Country Hotel in Burley near Ringwood, Hampshire to provide some large bespoke banquette seating, loose furniture and a bar. One of Moorhill House's great draws is that it is right in the heart of the New Forest.
Once you get past the breathtaking views of the New Forest which you drive through to gain access to the hotel, wild horses literally right by the side of the road greet you as you approach.
The History of Moorhill House
The house became a hotel in 1947 and has a great history. Burley itself is worth visiting for it’s witch related past. In the late 1950’s, Sybil Leek, the famous white witch was often present in the town wearing her black cloak, a pet jackdaw on her shoulder, scaring many a local by her outrageous appearance.
Banquette Seating Project
Atlas Contract Furniture has an existing relationship with Moorhill House. Most recently we have produced and fitted bespoke deep button back seating with an extra row of buttons along the top. The seating has a serpentine sprung base and is set to dining height as it is located in the bar and restaurant area. This classical look was requested by the owners and absolutely compliments the look and feel of the building. The banquette seating is upholstered with a soft cover in brown perfectly matched to the colours of the interior. The loose furniture, some which we supplied new and some which we reupholstered is in green, and combined with the woodland wallpaper makes the premises very much feel like you are outdoors in the forest which envelopes the hotel.
The seating is designed to be used for meals and customers to have drinks and socialise. The Shappen Bar & Dining Rooms, (named after the hotel's original name), provide an elevated British menu using locally sourced food.
We also had the pleasure of manufacturing the bar which boasts impressive leather fronted columns and brass gantry.
