Part-Time Acounts Assistant (Fixed-Term)

Salary: Negotiable

Contract: 20hpw, 6 month fixed-term contract

What the role will entail

You will have responsibility for matching delivery notes to Purchase Ledger and Nominal Ledger invoices and ensuring correct coding and posting to the Sage Line 50 accounting system.

You will need to ensure that purchase invoicing is all posted within the month end timetable to enable the preparation of monthly accounts to timetable.

EXPERIENCE USING SAGE IS ESSENTIAL

Main Responsibilities

Purchase Ledger

  • Processing invoices on to Sage, matching and collating invoices/delivery notes via purchase order processing and the batch processing of Nominal ledger invoices.
  • Keeping the Creditor Ledger up to date.
  • Monthly supplier statements reconciliations. To identify and pursue resolution /reconciliation of any anomalies to protect against false costs or short deliveries.
  • Purchase and Nominal invoice filing and retrieval to ensure invoices can be readily retrieved by Accounts.

Nominal Ledger

  • To learn and understand nominal coding and how this relates to invoice coding and posting.
  • Potential additional areas when on top of the above :-
  • Expense claim reconciliations, bank statement postings, credit card reconciliation and postings, bank reconciliations.

Person Specifications and experience:

  • Up-to-date knowledge of an accounts package (preferably Sage 50 accounts)
  • Good working knowledge of Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Experience in an accounts environment- preferably including purchase ledger invoice matching
  • High level of numeracy and accuracy with a methodical approach to their work
  • Ability to work within deadlines
  • Effective planning and ability to multi-task and prioritise own workload
  • Ability to keep sensitive information confidential
  • Reconciliations
